Overview

Background

Macclesfield Youth Brass Band (MYBB) was formed in September 2005. We are a registered charity (Reg. Charity No.1154414), a partner of the Love Music Trust and a member of Making Music.

MYBB currently has over 120 members aged between 7 and 19 years old. We have a Youth band, a Junior band and a Training band. All of our tutors and helpers give their time and expertise on a voluntary basis.

We pride ourselves on our modern and dynamic approach. We know that young people love playing in bands, they love the music, the team spirit and the social side too so we provide the best experiences we can to keep them motivated and committed to a hobby which relies on their commitment.

The bands rehearse on Friday evenings at the Fallibroome Academy in Macclesfield.

MYBB has gained recognition for many innovative projects designed to encourage inclusion in music making for all children. These include our asthma scheme in conjunction with the paediatric respiratory department at Macclesfield General Hospital and initiatives to support children with special educational or physical needs.

We have maintained the same level of member subs since we started at the very low cost of just over £1 per week which includes the loan of an instrument, uniform and tuition.
