Core Values

When MYBB was founded in 2005 the Trustees had a set of core values upon which they hoped to build a successful organisation. Despite much change and growth, our founding principles are still the same:

  • Providing low cost access to participation in music for all
  • Encouraging a diverse and inclusive range of players
  • Developing the skills of players in every way we can
  • Supporting all players in every way we can
  • Building the confidence of players
  • Treating players with respect
  • Being volunteer led and run
  • Contributing to local life as a community band
  • Furthering the brass band tradition in a way that appeals to young people of today
  • Maintaining our independence as an organisation
  • Expecting high standards from all
  • Working to achieve the best standards of musicianship
  • Encouraging team work
  • Being innovative in our approach
